Amika Mobile Press Release
AmikaNow! and EDUCOM announce OEM Technology Partnership
Ottawa, June 19, 2001 - AmikaNow!, a leader in email management tools driven by intelligent content interpretation software and EDUCOM, a leading provider of integrated email management and archiving solutions, today announced an OEM partnership that will allow EDUCOM to integrate AmikaNow! technology directly into their Exchange Archive Solution ( EAS) email management platform.
Email systems are used as the primary enterprise medium to conduct business discussions and carry out decisions and actions. They have become the communication medium of choice within most organizations. According to Pitney Bowes, email today represents 97% of communication in the enterprise. According to IDC we now have over 1 Billion corporate email boxes receiving an average of 37 emails a day. A growing proportion of emails are official corporate documents that need to be archived and later searched.
EAS-Summation, powered by the AmikaHighlighter technology will offer organizations the option to leave meaningful email summaries or "stubs" once the archive is complete. This facilitates search and moves well beyond the state-of-the art which currently only provides email headers rather than full email summaries. EDUCOM will also leverage the AmikaHighlighter summaries for mobile users. EAS-Mobile Browser will allow users browsing their Microsoft Exchange mail through the Microsoft Mobile Information Server to view concise summaries while mobile. In this manner the mobile user can quickly determine the relevance and importance of an email so that they may evaluate the need to respond and can avoid sorting through large messages.
"It's great to be working with a company that shares a common vision with EDUCOM" says EDUCOM CEO Andy Mof-fat, "AmikaNow! is focused on delivering intelligent content parsers that will enable organizations to extract knowledge from the volumes of digital text accumulating throughout the organization. EDUCOM will focus on deploying the Amika-Now! technology on products centered on MS Exchange mail. The synergy between the two companies is excellent and after exhaustive research we are convinced that the AmikaHighlighter technology is the most advanced in its market space. With it we will be able to develop valuable add-ons to our EAS product."
"We are very excited about working with EDUCOM. They have been pushing forward on a number of different tech-nology fronts to address email management and we believe they understand the problems inherent with information over-load that our technology is aimed at, says AmikaNow!'s President/CEO, Dr. Suhayya Abu-Hakima. "We were quite keen when EDUCOM came to us with instructions from their customer community to find a better way to deal with the enor-mous volume of e-mail that appears daily in everyone's mailbox. It is amazing to think that eight billion emails are ex-changed on the Internet daily with six billion in the United States alone. I expect the sector of email management to ex-plode this year. We view this partnership with EDUCOM as key in our objective of facilitating the efficient use of relevant email in the enterprise."
