Amika Mobile announces Software Appliance for Emergency and Operational Alerting and New Distribution Partnership
Ottawa, September 17, 2009 -
Amika Mobile announces its software appliance product for Emergency Mass Notification and Operational Alerts.
Amika Mobile also announces its distribution agreement with
Layer 10 Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of
EION.
The company's award-winning
Amika Mobility Server (AMS) product ensures schools, municipalities, shopping malls, airports and other public locations remain safe. When an emergency strikes, the
AMS auto-discovery capability finds anyone on the network within a campus, a building, a floor or a building zone even in a basement, regardless of whether they have pre-registered their computer, email address or phone number in a database or not. In today's mobile world, such auto-discovery is essential in saving lives. No other emergency notification system can claim this functionality-- that of finding persons whether they are connected to a wired or wireless network.
Installed in a campus environment, the
AMS can be used for emergency mass notification, for warnings, advisories or informational alerts that combine text, voice clips, images or relevant video. Staff, students or visitors can be warned quickly about a fire and provided with a map to safety. For a City Operational Alerting system, alerts can be quickly issued about First Responder emergencies, public demonstrations to manage traffic, water advisories, tornadoes, etc.
"The market for mass notification is estimated to be $403.6 million based on Frost & Sullivan's market study, growing at a rate of 12.9% in 2008. By embracing the advancements in alerting over WiFi and providing innovative features such as the auto-discovery capability, Amika Mobile is well positioned to take advantage of the vast market opportunity for mass notification services," explained Alejandra Lozano of Frost & Sullivan.
"Amika Mobile's vision is Save Lives on Any Device and Any Network - as such, recipients can be alerted at any mobile device, any wireless laptop or desktop," stated Amika Mobile
CEO Dr. Sue Abu-Hakima. Typical deployments range from 10,000 to 50,000 users. The AMS release 5.0 is a fully scalable software appliance product that fits seamlessly into existing infrastructure to alert over any network be it WiFi, email, SMS, web or voice. As a software appliance it is easy to install, support and maintain. Other emergency notification systems usually rely solely on SMS or voice networks to relay information. SMS messages have been delayed hours and sometimes days before they are received - this is unacceptable in emergency situations. In contrast, the AMS uses a variety of communications pathways to ensure everyone is notified promptly.
Amika Mobile will be demonstrating its new AMS appliance product at ASIS, the association for advancing security, between September 21 and 24 in Anaheim CA at the Anaheim Convention Center at Booth #2077.
Amika Mobile is privately held and specializes in emergency mass notification solutions. Its vision is Save Lives on Any Device Any Network. Its AMS products alert over WiFi, SMS, Email, VoIP, PA systems, Message Boards and the Web. It also delivers critical email-to-SMS alerts. The emergency alerts are ideal for those concerned with public safety as per FEMA's FPC 65 directive for emergency notification systems. Its mobile solutions are device and network independent.
Amika Mobile has won 12 awards and was named an IDC Top 10 Mobile Solution to watch.
